Bath remodel in Brentwood, NH with picket tile shower installation
Customer wanted to get rid of old plastic shower and replace with white tile. But desired a layout pattern design shape more unique than traditional subway tile.
She found a ceramic tile sample with this picket design for shower walls and penny tile for floor.
Out with the old, in with the new
First, demolition needed to be done for removal of old plastic shower basin and outdated wall tile.
We initially talked about the floor tile in bathroom outside the shower. But, removing vanity and toilet, question about whether or not to keep the tub, and budget, all weighed in on leaving the existing flooring for now.
Floor drain install
A new FloFx drain flange was installed tied into existing plumbing P-trap waste line.
Mud pan prep for shower tile installation
To create a slope to drain, a 4:1 mud mortar mix was mixed and packed, floated finish with trowel for the shower pan build.
Prep materials Coated in waterproofing membrane
The cement board walls were prime coated with Mapei AquaDefense waterproofing membrane. Then, another 2 coats applied to the whole prep material install. After waiting the weekend for the mud pan to wick.
